Developed by professionals, run by loving parents
We are a non-profit, cooperative preschool that is owned and operated by parents and staffed by professional teachers. Our cooperative preschool emphasizes the relationship between parents, teachers and students. We rely on the ideas, commitment, and involvement of every enrolled family to create a positive, nurturing learning environment for our students.
Specific family responsibilities include helping out in the classroom approximately once a month, serving on a committee or holding a position on the school board, attending our two mandatory parent meetings, and participating in fundraising activities. Our committees include things like setting up for social events, maintaining the classrooms, compiling the monthly newsletter, and scheduling field trips. You can choose a level of involvement to fit your family’s needs.
Our program follows guidelines set by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and is licensed by the State of Ohio Department of Jobs & Family Services.
Our classrooms include areas for fine motor skills to be exercised through daily crafts, painting, play dough, and other manipulatives. Role playing areas rotate between a grocery store, post office, housekeeping, vet center, etc. There is both structured and unstructured play in various learning centers, including a science center, water/bean table, listening center and reading center. The children also have daily story time.
There is a large activity room where music and large motor skills are developed using climbing toys, floor games, a parachute and the balance beam. The children also play on the playground when weather permits.
We are successful because every family in our school is committed to providing an environment that fosters trust, respect, independence, self-reliance, self-confidence, self-control, self-awareness, group cooperation, experimentation, creativity, communication skills, motor coordination, and a positive attitude towards school, peers, teachers, and the entire learning experience.
