Fundraising

This is just a reminder about the fundraising buyout. Should you choose the $80 fundraising buyout (per enrolled child), the deadline is January 31, 2010. If we have not received your buyout payment by January 31, 2010 we will assume that you will fulfill your fundraising requirement of $100 in sales (per enrolled child).

Spaghetti Dinner

Attention all! SECOOP is hosting a spaghetti dinner on January 15th, from 5:00-8:00pm. Dinner will be from 5:00-7:00 and include an all you can eat buffet of spaghetti and meatballs, salad, bread, and dessert.

Tickets can be bought in advance (ONLY those bought in advance go toward your fundraising goal) or at the door. The prices are $10/adult, $6/children (3-12) and free for kids under 2. Order forms will go home the week of January 4th and will be due back by January 10th, 2010.

We are looking for parent to volunteer to help set up/ clean up and cook. There will be a sign up posted on the bulletion board at school within the next week or two.

Making the Holiday Brighter for Others

During the holidays you may want to remember the US Army soldiers abroad. My husband, SPC Michael Snitzer (MP), is currently deployed to Camp Humphreys, South Korea. We will miss him this Christmas as he completes his 15 month deployment; we just recently found out that his deployment as been extended. However, my husband feels fortunate that he has a family with whom he can speak to on the phone regularly and receive holiday mail. Some of the soldiers in my husbands unit will not have this opportunity. Many times being a soldier can be a solitary life as frequent deployments are difficult for relationships to endure. It lifts the spirits any time a soldier can collect a package from a kind heart back home while deployed.

The Coop would like invite you and your child to create a Christmas card for a soldier who is deployed to my husbands Military Police Unit in South Korea. If anyone would like to include an ornament, cookies, other baked goods, or small gifts like warm socks these are often comforts that deployed soldiers enjoy. Packages and letters take about one week to arrive at Camp Humphreys. Camp Humphreys is a very populated base and soldiers have access to stores, so hygiene products are appreciated, but not necessary. More importantly are the kind words of support and just knowing that someone back home is thinking about the sacrifices our US soldiers have made.
